The XTERRA World Championship returns to Ruidoso, New Mexico, from October 8–11, 2026, bringing the world’s top off-road triathletes together for four days of elite competition in the Sacramento Mountains.
Hosted in partnership with Ruidoso Parks & Recreation, the championship is centered around Grindstone Lake and Ruidoso’s award-winning trail system, where athletes will swim, mountain bike, and trail run through some of the region’s most spectacular high-altitude landscapes. These same parks, trails, and recreation facilities welcome residents and visitors year-round, making Ruidoso a premier destination for outdoor adventure.
Whether you’re competing, cheering on an athlete, or simply enjoying the excitement, spectators will find plenty of opportunities to experience the championship atmosphere at Grindstone Lake and throughout the community. Ruidoso Parks & Recreation is proud to welcome competitors and guests from around the world while showcasing the outdoor spaces and recreational amenities that make this mountain community a special place to explore long after race day.
